Family Write Night

Earlier this year, one of my friends reminded of the power of family write nights. I must admit that I filed our conversation in the back of my brain and forgot it until I got this idea from a fellow blogger. She has some wonderful posts about implementing Daily 5 in the early childhood classroom. I especially love her post about getting the teacher ready to implement certain aspects of Daily 5. Her journal idea sparked a creative thread in my first grade brain. My first graders love to write, but getting them to write in their own journal without using every page for their "artistic" creations has been a challenge. I think this will help them to focus on their personal schema. I plan to use their personal journals for word work only. Click here for your free copy. Stay tuned for a spelling unit soon!!

  3. I just read your profile and feel so similar - "it's not just a job, it's a mission and a ministry." I've often wondered how many other teachers feel like teaching is their 'calling' like I do and not just something they do for money. :)

    1. I feel that way, too! I "work" for the hugs and knowing that I'm making a difference in lives!
